I bought a cheap composite to VGA converter box to hook up a Wii console to a Samsung Syncmaster T220 LCD monitor. The video quality on the monitor isn’t as good as my TV (an old CRT TV). It is pixelated and the objects are unclear in most games. I was wondering is there a problem with the VGA box or that is just the quality of composite video on LCD monitor. Is there a way to improve the quality based on the monitor? Thanks in advance.
On my converter box there is also a s-video input so i guess it is still possible for s-video to vga. I was wondering if buying a s-video cable for wii (~$ 10US) would bring the sharpness and quality of the wii on LCD computer monitor closer to that of component. I did some research, and a component to vga box and wii component cable will cost me way more than just buying a s-video cable.
it might be the way the lcd looks because the output cables on the wii needs to send information faster, try to find an HD package for a wii (i see them at sams all the time)
Because i recently bought a plasma and my PS2 looks horrible, but with the hdmi or bigger output cables on the xbox360 looks good
For the best result, but component cables from Gamestop. They are made especially for the Wii, so make sure you get the actual Nintendo brand and nothing else.
If you connect it all up then it will give you a much clearer picture.
NOTE: Your TV needs to have the red, blue and green Ports in order for the component cables to work, so make sure your TV has them before you buy the cables.
baby quiet sounds video monitor
A few months ago, my LCD monitor started acting strangely. It was displaying moving lines kind of similar to what you might expect on a CRT monitor with a too-high refresh rate. Shortly thereafter, it began acting even more spastic, sometimes flickering the width and height to about 1/4 of the normal size, discoloring similarly to when a magnet is next to a CRT monitor, or displaying “shimmers”. I’m sort of confused as to some of this behavior, as I thought LCD panels weren’t as prone to interference as CRTs. This leads me to believe that it’s actually a hardware issue. My problem is, I can’t tell whether it’s video card or monitor. I tried hooking up my monitor to another computer and couldn’t recreate the issue, but that doesn’t mean much. I can’t put the video card in another computer to test it, because it’s on-board. Since on-board video cards are generally pretty lousy anyhow, I’m shortly going to upgrade–but I’ll be mad at myself if it’s actually the monitor. Any insight?
Oh, I tried completely uninstalling the video card driver, wiping it with a driver wiping software, then reinstalling, and still having issues.
I’d say if you tried this LCD on another computer it’s probably the onboard video. But have you tried another monitor on this computer? That may give you the double check you need to feel safe getting a new video card.
It is a motherboard issue. You might be using a very old motherboard. I have the similar issue once but when I change my motherboard, problem solved.
